This week eMarketer has launched a new ipd app. I just had to try it out.
I reviewed the iPhone eMarketer app when that was released, and have been a regular user of it ever since, but this ipad app is something really special!
What is eMarketer?
If you have not come across eMarketer before, let me give you a short introduction. eMarketer publishes data, analysis and insights on digital marketing, media and commerce. They do this by gathering information from many sources, filtering it, and putting it into perspective. It help its subscribers to make better business decisions.
The new iPad eMarketer app – Main menu.
I installed it as soon as it was released and all I can say is just “wow”.
Once you log in, you are presented with a cascading menu. It is as easy to use as it looks and even more fun! Choose a selection like “Topics” and scroll the grey sections to the left and make your choice. The settings button is where you can toggle off/on the push notifications or logout. The search function is exceptionally fast, oh boy, its fast.
The fun is not interrupted over time. Once the app is open and logged in, you can return to it the next day and it will be just where you left it – sweet!
You can also scroll the recent reports, which you would normally receive a weekly email update about.
Selecting a sub-section.
The sub-sections can be viewed either in a list view:
Or a grid view:
You can also select reports as favorites, indicated by a yellow and white star:
Using reports
Once you select a report, it downloads to your iPad. The cloud icon will then be replaced by the “on device” icon in the list view, and in the grid view the download icon will not be shown. I would recommend that they make both views the same and show the “on device” icon in both views.
This is my one and only suggestion for improvement by the way 😉
Each report opens fully and can be read like an eBook, with a “go to” button to jump quickly to the cover, table of contents, beginning or to any bookmarks you have made. You can also adjust the font size.
Why not use the slider to zoom to any page? Just as before you can click on any image to zoom in:
The share button allows you to send it via email. What more could you want?
The eMarketer iPad is an essential must have app for any eMarketer client to have. It is easy to use, fast to search, and with the eBook reading functionality for reports added, it will get you quickly to the most important information that you are looking for!
