LinkedIn Now Fully Supports Hashtags
LinkedIn for many years did not support hashtags. It is the number one social network for B2B targeting for many marketers and communicators. A few months ago LinkedIn started supporting hashtags initially on mobile. Hashtags are now supported on the desktop version of LinkedIn as of July 2017. They work in update “posts” made by individuals and also company page updates but they do not work in LinkedIn publishing blog updates (so far).
“Hashtags included in your posts (or others) are now tappable and lead to search results so that you can discover other posts with the same hashtag. Simply add a hashtag to your post and it will be automatically available publicly. As you would expect, you can also search for a hashtag to see all public posts tagged with it.” – LinkedIn
I created an update today with a hashtag and viewed it using the mobile app. Clicking the hashtag results in a search results page for the hashtag.
LinkedIn now supports hashtags on the desktop version. Click on a hashtag or search for one.
I did a simple quick test and use the LinkedIn search box to look for results for #iot. It found results in the sections for “people”, “jobs”, “groups” and “schools” where “iot” was mentioned in the bio, names or texts. It is the “posts” results where you will find the majority of results featuring #iot. Go ahead, start using hashtags in your posts and searching for them.
