Overdrive Interactive has released the latest version of its Social Media Map. The main purpose is to act as a social media reference guide that applies an organized and categorized view to a rapidly expanding landscape of sites and applications.
I was listening to the history of the map recently, as told by Harry J. Gold, the CEO of Overdrive Interactive. The map has had a colorful history since 2009, and has helped to put his company on the map 😉
Here is just a small slice of the map, just the top left hand quarter, so you can imagine what is on the other three quarters of the map!
How could you use the Social Media Map!
- Educate your clients/peers about what is available out there!
- Be more socially aware. If Digg does not work for you, maybe Fark.com might be a good alternative?
- Bookmark it as a handy guide.
- Submit any site or tool you feel should be added in the form at the top right of the page after you have registered here!
- Share the link into your social networks.
The Social Media Map online version has categories that expand to include a lot more information. People can add sites Wiki-style and eventually rate them as well.

Here is a video about the map.
You can obtain your own copy of this map right here!
Did you register and obtain the map? Did you find it useful? I would love to hear back from you if you found a use for the map in addition to the 5 that I listed in this post.
